Buy Solar Panels
Hi Everyone
The decision to buy solar panels is often a very tough one. The average solar energy system installation for a home in the United States costs $27,000. With most of them ranging between $25,000 and $35,000.
When you buy solar panels you are not just buying a bunch of panels to put on the roof of your house, you are also buying a charge controller, a DC to AC power inverter, batteries, and, and possibly a grid tie disconnect.
Plus you will need a lot of specialized mounting equipment and hardware.
There’s another way to go though, instead of going out and buying solar panels you can begin by building your own solar panels.

First off this will keep your costs down as building a solar panel is way less money than buying a solar panel.
If I had the money I would go out and buy the most efficient and best brand solar panels I could find. But that’s just not the case.
So to start out I am building my own solar panels so I can distribute the cost over time.
There are many great brands of solar panels out there such as:
- BP Solar
- Evergreen
- GE
- AEE Solar
- Kaneka
- Mitsubishi Electric
- Kyocera
- Sanyo
- SunWize
- Suntech
- Uni-Solar
- Sharp
These are all great brands and they make a variety of different types of solar panels with wattages ranging from a low of 1 to 2 Watts up to 200 Watts or greater.
The 1 to 5 watt solar panels will cost you between $25 and $50 per solar panel.
For most residential applications you’re going to need a solar panel that produces between 60 and 175 watts per solar panel to be efficient.
Presently the 60 watt solar panels will cost you between $250 and $500 per solar panel.
Solar panels in the 175 watt range are going to cost you between $900 and $1500 per solar panel.
The average home needs 4000 watts of solar panels or more to reduce your electricity bill by 50% to 100% .
So you can see that starting out building your own solar panels might be a very good idea.
I am very excited about the possibility to save lots of money by making your own solar panels for more information on building your own solar panels check out the green DIY energy guide.
