These are effective and can provide quite a bit of power if you spend any time in the sun.
Another interesting application of these flexible solar panels is being done on large commercial ships. These flexible solar panels are being attached to the surface of sails that are being installed on these ships to help them move through the water while using less fuel.
The sails help to move them along and the solar panels on the upper surface of the sails help to power the ships electronics. This free solar power replaces the power that used to be delivered by onboard generators and the savings from not using fuel to power these generators can be quite substantial.
