The same advantages can be found in scientific monitoring stations that are located around the world. These monitoring stations are normally located in remote areas and are setup to keep track of rainfall, wind direction and other scientific details that are under study. These remote stations used to use conventional batteries that had to be changed and now use a small solar panel and solar batteries for their power.
